Depressed people

                            The old people
The young

Depression can affect anyone, but certain groups are more likely to experience it due to a combination of genetic, biological, environmental, and psychological factors. These groups include:

1. **Women**: Women are about twice as likely as men to experience depression, which could be due to hormonal changes, social roles, and stressors related to gender.
2. **Young Adults and Adolescents**: Depression often begins in the teens or early adulthood, with significant prevalence in this age group.
3. **Elderly People**: Older adults may face depression due to factors such as isolation, physical health problems, and major life changes like retirement.
4. **People with a Family History of Depression**: Genetics play a role in the likelihood of developing depression.
5. **Individuals with Chronic Illnesses**: Conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and cancer can increase the risk of depression.
6. **People with Substance Abuse Issues**: Alcohol or drug abuse can both lead to and stem from depression.
7. **Individuals Experiencing Major Life Changes**: Stressful life events such as the loss of a loved one, divorce, or unemployment can trigger depression.
8. **People with Certain Personality Traits**: Traits like low self-esteem, pessimism, and high levels of stress and worry can make someone more susceptible to depression.
9. **Individuals in Socioeconomic Distress**: Financial hardship, lack of social support, and living in a stressful environment can increase the risk of depression.

While these groups are more likely to be affected, it's important to recognize that depression can impact anyone, regardless of age, gender, or background.
